End of School Year Happenings!

The end of the school year always comes with a lot of awards ceremonies, concerts, and banquets. Cavin had an orchestra banquet and an award ceremony as well as his NHS induction that we had to miss as we left out of town.

He is a beautiful cellist and I love to listen to him play!

He also got his letter jacket and was excited about that! (Even though no one needs a jacket in May in Houston!)

Channing had an awards ceremony we also had to miss, then a choir Pop Show concert, and a choir banquet.

She received A honor roll for this year and all A's for all of middle school. She is a bright student.

At the pop show she sang a solo to " I'm not that Girl" from Wicked. It was a movie themed pop show and she did an awesome job. She had to go first and did so well. I'm proud of her bravery.

They sang several songs.

Ragnar was out of town, but the rest of us came to support her.

At her choir banquet she got several awards!

Her two close friends helped her endure choir. She loves to sing, but her director is a little all over the place so she is really looking forward to the program in high school.

Peace, Love and Panthers is what their theme was!

She was chosen as leader in choir, region choir member, the musicianship award, the 3 amigos award, and super star solo singer. She has a beautiful voice and I hope she keeps singing.

Deacon finished off his year with his 5th grade musical Shrek. It was the 4th and final time I have to see it :)

He didn't want to try out for a part, but he sung the songs throughout the house!

Ragnar was out of town, but the rest of us came to cheer him on!

He loved safety patrol and finished on his last week of school making sure everyone was safe :)

Finally was his awards ceremony. I was not able to go, but Ella and Ragnar were able to show their support.

He received an award for A/B honor roll (he was upset because he got one 89), perfect attendance, top 25 % in the nation for math olympiads, and top Math olympiad at ESE. He is a bright kid and I'm sad we have to say goodbye to ESE and he has to go to middle school. I've had a child at that school for 14 years!

All the kids had a great year, including Ella who had to take a semester of 11 classes and kept up her GPA and scholarship. I'm proud of all the work the kids put in.

End of season for the Heatwave!

Deacon and Cavin both finished of their Heatwave soccer seasons strong. Both boys did well in the tournament and made it to the championship game.

Cavins team was seeded lower, but did well. He had to play goalie for all the Saturday games because their goalie is not good, but he did a great job. He scored two goals in the first tournament game that led them to the games on Saturday. He played goalie from then on out and had to be the goalie during the shootout as the game was tied. He scored his goal and then stopped enough for him to win the championship. It was fun to watch and I was proud of him! He came into a team he didn't know anyone and ended up being the captain and leading them to victory! He has a really strong leg and really just wanted to play for fun instead of all the pressure of the high school team.

Deacons team was seeded # 1 of 10 teams and they played well. The championship game had some iffy calls and so they also ended in a tie and had to do a shootout. Unfortunately, we are not as lucky in shootouts and even though Deacon made his shot, they ended up coming in 2nd place. He was a little sad as they definitely should have won, but I think he still really had a good season.

Ragnar has been coaching him for a while and Deacon really loves having his dad be his coach!

They had a great group boys on the team. I am grateful for their positive experiences and I really love watching them play soccer each week!

Ella is 19!

Ella was able to be home for her 19th birthday and we got to celebrate with her and I was even able to take the day off.

She went for a birthday walk with me and then had her birthday donut!

My mom and sister came over and we went and got a pedicure and went to dinner.

It was a simple day, but we had a nice time watching a movie, shopping, and hanging out. We enjoy having her home! She is pretty independent and happy on her own. She still reads any chance she can. She still loves the color black but also blue. Her voice has really developed, so I love listening to her sing. Her voice has gotten a lot stronger. She is excited about her mission in a couple weeks and has been preparing. We are sad we wont be with her on her next birthday but have been grateful to be with her now!

A Visit from Daphne!

Daphne came to visit us in Texas and was very kind to bring Ellas stuff from college home to Texas. She made the long drive and we got to visit for a few days! She first got to see Cavin's Spring Football game and see him kicking. Then we went to a late dinner together.

We also got to go to the temple together which was nice.

She took Channing overnight for a sleepover which Channing always loves. We had a nice time sweating and chatting together while the dogs played. I'm grateful she took her time to come visit and hang out with the kids. We all enjoy having her around.

We sure miss when she lived closer!

Channing went with several of her friends to her last Timberwood middle school dance. She got dressed up and her friends and her took pictures, ate dinner, and danced the night away!
