Deacon turns 4!!

On July 30, 2018 Deacon turned 4 years old! He was so excited!! He loves birthdays and having watched all of his siblings already have their birthday for the year, he was ready for his! We decorated his door and he was excited about that and waking up to donuts! He could barely sleep the night before as he kept singing "Happy Birthday to me!" I hope he enjoys birthdays for a long time, they aren't so fun when you're older!
He loves balloons, so he was excited to see his door!
No better way to start the day then with a donut!
His activity of choice was to go to Chuck-E-Cheese! We were lucky and went right when it opened and got to collect all the tickets from when they turn on the games. There was hardly anyone there, so it was great!
He had a great time with his siblings.
Ella scored a lot of tickets and they each had fun spending them.
Deacon took a nap and then my parents and Natalie joined us for a small family party. My dad brought balloons and came up with a game where they threw the balloon down and tried to hit a certain mark when it landed. It occupied them for a while! Afterward we went and had dinner at Chick Fil A.
Deacon requested a sports theme with a baseball cake. As you can tell it was VERY amateur, but he loved it so that is all that matters!
We had cake and presents. Deacon loves Paw Patrol, so we got him a paw patrol cruiser and characters and my parents got him the helicopter. His Oma got him a sliding soccer ball and then he got baseball bases, water guns, and a cobra hot wheels set. He was pretty excited about it all!
He was a happy boy and was excited the day was all about him!
This is our Deacon. Four years of having him in our family has brought us so much joy! He is always saying he is super strong! Then he adds, when I am bigger, I will be jumping off the diving board. He always compares time to when he is old enough to jump off ;)
He is a very sweet kid, but very active. He is always on the move. Every store we go to he starts at the front of the aisle and will say, on your mark, get set, go! Then he will proceed to sprint down the aisle. He sure keeps me fit!
He is a great napper and still sleeps 3-4 hours a day and loves to sleep next to a big husky dog he won at the rodeo named Wolfie. He is always playing with a ball. It doesn't matter if it is a basketball, baseball, football, soccerball, or whatever, he is playing with a ball. He is very naturally talented with dribbling, shooting, and kicking and he is fun to watch. When he occasionally puts the ball down, he is playing with his cars. He loves to race them.
Deacon has beautiful blue eyes and wherever we go, people comment on how beautiful they are. He loves his big brother Cavin and always wants to be with him. He also is a mini Ragnar and can't wait to spend time with dad! If dad is home, he doesn't need his mama!
His favorite food is macaroni and cheese or nuggets. He only likes vanilla icecream and he loves m&ms. He eats goldfish like they are separate food group!
He has unlimited energy and always wants to be a part of everything. He is getting pretty good at Uno and likes to play. He loves to watch sports and even more to go to sporting events. He still loves James Harden and the Rockets. His favorite color is red and he knows his colors and numbers pretty well. He loves to dress up as a storm trooper. He is a fun kid with a lot of personality and we love him!

Annual Summer Olympics

Each summer my parents put together a summer Olympics that my kids really look forward to. This year my parents hosted the event on July 25th. We went to Spring Creek Park to start the events. The kids started with the flag ceremony and Olympic march.
They used the flags they made last year and took a stroll to the music around the park.
Here they are warming up!
They did a short dash and a long dash event.
We did the javelin toss.
Next a disc throw.
Then and obstacle course.
Ella loves competitions ;) ok not really but she was a good sport about it.
Then we headed over to the pool and did a few Individual medley races.
Then the kids did jumping through a hoop and water volleyball or a game where you had to keep the ball in the air.
They had a great time being together and jumped in and played afterward.
After lunch, showers, naps, and resting, we did the award ceremony.
Caden won the Olympic gold, Cavin the silver, and Channing the bronze. Ella was great at the swimming as she is an awesome swimmer, and Deacon did really well in the obstacle course. It was fun to watch the kids have fun and compete. I am grateful my mom and dad are willing to host. The kids stated that after the 6th year this is one of their favorite summer memories with the grandparents.

A weekend trip to Baton Rouge!

This summer since our family trip plans changed, we have been trying to utilize the every other Friday Ragnar has off. We went to college station and to the presidential library and the drive through safari, and this weekend we headed to Baton Rouge to see Daphne.
She took the kids to get a flower to plant and then the kids ran through the sprinklers.
The next morning we went on a Cajun Pride Swamp tour.
It was hot, but we went early, so it wasn't bad.
We saw a lot of alligators.
A cute raccoon family.
The tour guide would use bait to have the alligators come close. He would throw out marshmallows to have them come closer, and then he would feed them.
He gave us all a turn to hold the baby alligator.
The kids were brave, but Deacon and I opted to just look ;)
It was a fun family outing and now we can say we've tried it!
That afternoon the kids were pooped! Miraculously Channing fell asleep in Ragnar's arms. We watched the movie Ferdinand that night and hung out. We always have a nice time with Daphne and she is good at doing things with the kids that we don't make the time for.

A visit from Marisa

My sister Marisa and her family came to Houston for a couple weeks at the end of June beginning of July. We were supposed to head up to Arkansas for our family trip, but she ended up moving the baptism for her son Liam to Houston. We were blessed to be able to participate and be a part of his day regardless. Channing and Ragnar worked really hard with only a couple weeks practice to be able to perform the song "Choose Him Again." They were able to get it ready and Ragnar played the piano and Channing did a great job singing it.
We are proud of Liam and look forward to the many good decisions he will make. Since he was baptized on June 30th, his birthday, we spent the rest of the day celebrating. We went to the clubhouse and had a pool party and dinner and had a fun night with the families. My brother Chris, Natalie, Marisa, and I were all able to be there, so we were just missing my brother Corey's family.

The rest of the time the Schrmans were here, we played and hung out. We had a brunch and games on the 4th of July,  and we went to the movies and saw The Incredibles 2 later that week.
The kids did pretty well..minus the fact that Deacon has to go to the bathroom every 30 minutes when we go to the movie... I don't know if he gets nervous or bored..but it's a little obnoxious.
We went to Red Robin for lunch afterward which was nice! I love a good burger!
That weekend we had a girls day and went to lunch at Los Cucos and then got pedicures. It was nice to hang out with my sisters and mom.
I was blessed with great sisters!
Our toes look so pretty ;)
We have a wonderful mother.
On July 10th it was my dad's birthday so my sisters and I went to do an endowment session with him. It was neat to be in the temple with him on his special day. He took us to Chinese afterward which was nice.
When we got back to my parents, the kids all celebrated with grandpa!
He is a good man and I am glad we got to celebrate another year of his life!

The rest of the time Marisa was here we played games, the kids went to the pools and we just hung out together.
It was good to see her and her family and I sure wish they lived closer!
